The New York Rangers are 16-18-1 after their devastating loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning Saturday. With that loss, they are now in dead last of the Metropolitan Division.

However, according to NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman the New York Rangers are expected to be busy in March, as they desperately need to make trades.
During the "Saturday Headlines" segment of Sportsnet's Hockey Night in Canada, he named four NHL teams who'd make big moves at the trade deadline.
Friedman named off the Buffalo Sabres, Detroit Red Wings, St. Louis Blues and then the New York Rangers were listed as the team who will have the most eyes on.
«The trade freeze is lifted and teams are making moves. The Rangers, that's a team everyone is watching,» Friedman said.

"The Red Wings and the Sabres continue to scout each other and I think those two teams had (a) look at something there right before the (holiday) break--we'll see if that continues.

"Brandon Saad is another player we talked about with St. Louis, and what his future would be.

"So those are kind of the situations we're going to be looking at as we move into 2025."

The moves are coming after the clubs named, have been underperforming all seasons and look to improve their rosters, and their records.
The Rangers have had no issues making major moves, sending Jacob Trouba to Anaheim, and Kaapo Kakko to Seattle.
But as they remain outside of a playoff spot at the moment, General Manager Chris Drury is expected to continue to try and improve the roster by any means necessary.
One player mentioned in the rumors could be an option for the Rangers, should he tap into his relationship with St. Louis Blues GM Doug Armstrong.
«I think Saad has been available for some time now,» Friedman said on Monday. «I think with Saad, even though he's got a full no-trade, don't assume he won't go places. I think there are some places that he would go to that people may not consider.»

Saad is a two-time Stanley Cup champion, and a depth option for the Rangers, should the team consider adding another veteran to the lineup.
