It was a crazy scene during the opening 2 seconds of the New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils game when a line brawl broke out after Matt Rempe took on Devils left winger Curtis MacDiarmid after answering his challenge.

Shortly afterwards, Sportsnet stats tweet it out a lopsided and absolute bonkers stat of Rempe's playing time to penalty minutes against the Devils this year.

The scene at MSG was reminiscent of the 1970s style hockey where line brawls were common, and many players would always be ejected from the game.

In this one, 162 penalty minutes were assessed in the first period between the two teams in which the Rangers had 76 and the Devils had 86.

The 21-year-old Rempe has burst onto the scene of the NHL with a bang as in his early days of his career, he was challenged by several heavyweights throughout the league.

After showing the league and its fan base that he can hold himself and prove his worthiness, he has played thirteen games, scoring only one goal and one assist for two points and is a + 2.

The idea that these two teams one day will return to play against one another in the playoffs will be an incredible series with so many underlying stories that would make for a intense match up.
