The story of the emergence of Rangers enforcer Matt Rempe as he now gets his first taste of NHL playoffs. After the Rangers defeated the Washington Capitals 4-1 in game one. Head Coach Peter Laviolette continued to speak highly of his enforcer and raised a few eyebrows when he told the media scrum that he has never seen this before in his career.
It was an incredible scene for Rempe as he scored the first goal of the game for the Rangers which is impressive on its own.
The 21-year-old who stands at six foot 7 and 241 lbs emerged onto the NHS scene down the stretch after being called from the Hartford Wolfpack. Many pundits and players were not sure of what he would bring to the table aside fighting which he took to heart and decided to take on numerous heavyweights throughout the NHL as his introduction.
He instantly became a fan favorite and has been the storyline of the Rangers for the remainder of the season and now into this first round. He had played seventeen games for the Rangers in his first season and only scored one goal and one assist for two points but had 71 penalty minutes.
Rempe and the Rangers will continue their quest for the cup as Game 2 will be set on Tuesday April 23rd at Madison Square Garden. Game time will be 7:00 PM eastern
