New York Rangers trade speculation surrounding two stars from the Western Conference Division is starting to intensify as GM Chris Drury is looking to make a deal.

Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson may be on the injured reserve, the trade rumours have intensified. Recently Canucks GM Patrik Allvin has been listening in on potential offers for the forward, and one place he could land is the New York Rangers.

With the row between J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson becoming public, the Rangers could greatly benefit from this as it could create a new opportunity for one of these forwards, and significantly improve their lineup while doing so.

Petterson's no-trade clause won't kick in until this offseason, which could make a trade for him easier, than former Ranger JT Miller.

This season, Petterson has scored 28 points( 10 G, 18 A) in 34 games for the Canucks before ending up on the IR.

Pettersson's contract, albeit hefty, could fit under the Ranger salary cap if GM Chris Drury can make room for him either before, or during the trade.

The Rangers are open for business and have already traded major players like Kaapo Kakko and Jacob Trouba.

Reports that Chris Kreider and Mika Zibanejad could find a new home continue to make the waves. The Rangers have plenty of pieces that could be dealt to the Canucks including multiple RFAs such as Braden Schneider, Zac Jones, and K'Andre Miller.

The Rangers have a ton of cap space and could fit in Pettersson's salary without having to match it dollar for dollar, as they sit with over $8 million to work with. Vancouver has been a media circus, so it could be an easy transition for Pettersson under the bright lights of Broadway.

The move would give the Rangers a legitimate 1C on Broadway, and give them the ability to be able to move off of veterans, and give them a fresh start whether down in the lineup, or elsewhere in the NHL.
