Traded: We now know where J.T. Miller plans on being traded following latest social media leaks
The New York Rangers and J.T. Miller were linked in a trade this past week. But it seems that deal has fallen through, despite his desire to return to the Eastern Conference. Could he have leaked his new destination via Instagram?
In mind-blowing news, sometimes NHL players do dumb things, and J.T. Miller may have given away the game on Instagram.
The former 100+ point forward was linked to the Rangers, with the Canucks getting a possible return of Ryan Lindgren and Filip Chytil. But that would fall through before the game against the Oilers, as we sat in limbo wondering if GM Chris Drury could make a deal with the Canucks.
GM Chris Drury has failed, and J.T. Miller may have revealed his next destination: Carolina.
The Carolina Hurricanes have been mentioned more than once as an interested party in the Miller sweepstakes and it sounds like the forward might be on his way to Raleigh.
J.T. Miller could be heading for divisional rival, the Hurricanes according to his recent likes on Instagram.
Thanks to internet sleuths everywhere.
According to NHL Insider Nick Kypreos, the Hurricanes have been in the hunt for the center and could be the missing piece for their next playoff hunt.
«Multiple teams in on this, Rangers, Carolina, we will see about the Devils, everyone wants to buy low, Rutherford wants to get this done but Canucks are getting nickeled and dimed.»
It was speculated last season, that the Hurricanes were attempting to make a trade for Elias Pettersson, and now Miller is their next target after that failed.
NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman confirmed that the team is actively working to acquire Miller.
«active, ready to pounce.»
The Carolina Hurricanes would benefit from Miller's physicality and scoring prowess and could push the team into Stanley Cup contention.
With a plethora of prospects and draft picks, GM Eric Tulsky shouldn't have an issue getting this deal done.
Effectively, locking out the Rangers from acquiring a forward who could be a game changer.
While nothing has been confirmed, the Hurricanes could be a great landing spot for Miller who has said he's wanted to return to the East, despite his connection to the Rangers who he spent the early part of his NHL career with.
