The New York Rangers will be without Sam Carrick today. The team was skating in preparation for the game against the Colorado Avalanche tomorrow, at 1 PM.

Sam Carrick, one of the Rangers best forwards this season, has skipped practice today.

This season he's played 48 games for the Blueshirts, and scored 14 points (4G, 10 A) with the team. Typically he plays on the fourth-line but with news of his absence, the lineup looks a little different on DailyFaceOff today.

A 6-0, 200-pound forward, Carrick has compiled 28 goals and 25 assists for 53 points in 240 career NHL games between the Oilers, Ducks, and Toronto Maple Leafs. In 2021-22, he recorded career high totals in goals (11), assists (8) and points (19) while with Anaheim.

Instead of Sam Carrick in the fourth-line center position, we see Jonny Brodzinski there today. Likely due to his maintenance day according to The Athletic's Peter Baugh.

Carrick has been a sneaky good player for the Rangers. He was signed as a free agent by Chris Drury in July and has punched above his weight whenever possible.

Carrick, a depth center was signed to a three-year, $1 million AAV contract.

He's proven he's worth every center, as he played a pivotal role in the New York Rangers extinguishing the New Jersey Devils' hopes of a comeback on January 9th with a clutch, game-winning goal.

While all we'll likely get is a maintenance day reason for his absence, there's no confirmation he'll end up missing tomorrow's match against the Colorado Avalanche.

The Rangers are 24-20-4, 5th in the Metropolitan Division, and could eclipse the Columbus Blue Jackets for a wild-card playoff spot.
