Upcoming Netflix documentary shows emotional Lundqvist story
It was a somber an emotional end to a fantastic career by Rangers superstar goalie Henrik Lundqvist when it was revealed he had heart issues that prevented him from continuing his playing career.
His story has been told on an upcoming Netflix documentary called Open Heart.
As mentioned, Henrik Lundqvist was about to make the biggest change of his career having played his entire NHL experience with the Rangers.
In the fall of 2020, he made the choice to join the Rangers bitter rival the Washington Capitals and needed to perform a physical. It was revealed he had severe trouble with his heart.
With his heart issues looming and doctors telling him he is unable to play ever again, Lundqvist was left with no choice but to hang up his skates and enjoy the rest of his life.
Lundqvist had a fantastic career with the Rangers after he was drafted in 2000, in the seventh round 205th overall.
From the span of 2005 through 2020 he had played 887 games, with a record of 459-310-96 with the goals against of 2.43 and a save percentage of .918 with 64 shutouts.
He will always be a Ranger and is beloved by the fan base as he had provided them with many great games including the Stanley Cup run in 2013 - 2014 to which the Rangers were runner up to the Los Angeles Kings.
