Boston Bruins newest member, Max Jones just may face some serious consequences after slashing a referee with his stick.

The Boston Bruins and Florida Panthers faced off in their first opening night matchup against each other and tempers started to flare, as the Bruins were being outplayed for entire game.

The Bruins thought they came prepared to face off against the Stanley Cup champions as they added some big additions this offseason, but that clearly was not the case for the Bruins as the Panthers took an impressive 6-4 victory.

However, during the second period of the game the Bruins were down 5-2, and things took an unexpected turn as Max Jones, who signed with the Bruins this offseason during free agency, was invoked in a heated altercation with Panthers forward Evan Rodrigues and did something he might regret.

While the two were going at it in a heated scrum, Max Jones tried to slash Rodrigues stick off his shoulder, but unfortunately ended up hitting the referee with his stick as he interfered with the situation.

Here's the controversial play:

Unsportsmanlike conduct on Max Jones after he accidentally slashed the referee

Jones ended up getting a unsportsmanlike penalty for his actions, and there is very good chance he could face some further disciplinary action from the league, as hitting a referee in any situation is not acceptable.
