Over the past few weeks, much has been made about a meeting that was to be held in Winnipeg with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman.

This meeting under normal circumstances would have been nothing more than a formality as he tours the league, however, there is an underlying issue with the Winnipeg Jets that became front and centre which led the fan base to believe this was more.

Many felt that this was a judgement on the Winnipeg Jets and their fan base as ticket sales and season tickets have been dropping rapidly over the past year.

Inflationary issues with the higher costs of food, rent and even hockey expenses for the average fan have gone through the roof which has led many fans not to renew their season tickets or buy single tickets.

This has not gone unnoticed by True North Sports Entertainment CEO Mark Chipman and explained the need for more tickets to be sold.

As he began the press conference he reminded everyone that the franchise is strong and will be fine for now, but after losing their franchise already once in the 90s, it doesn't surprise me that the fans are a little nervous after this visit.
