Former Flyers star Jakub Voracek announced his retirement from the NHL
It appears that another NHL star has decided to hang up his skates as former Flyers and Blue Jacket Jakub Voracek has decided to retire from the game. It was the 2nd star in the game to hang up their skates after Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jeff Carter also decided to retire. Both men share a story line that is quite interesting.
Both players crossed paths at one point in their careers as the 34-year-old right winger was drafted by the Blue Jackets in 2007 in the first-round 7th overall. Voracek was traded to the Flyers in 2011 along with a first and a third-round draft pick of that year in exchange for Carter.
After spending the bulk of his career with the Flyers in 2011 through 2021 he was one of the best players on their roster and was always a factor in scoring and in assists.
He played 1058 games, scoring 223 goals with 583 assists for 806 points with 525 penalty minutes.
Recently after being traded back to Columbus, he was then moved to the Arizona Coyotes to which he never played a single game due to his severe concussion.
