The referees in any professional sport always show a sense of professionalism and clarity when they discuss a call with the fans.
During the past several years, the NHL decided to mic up the referees an have them explain the call to the fans rather than just handing out the penalties.
This is a trick that the NFL has done for many decades.
During the Islanders - Blues game referee Garrett Rank decides to toy with the Blues home crowd and gives an honest and quite hilarious way to describe a goal being called back.
This way of calling the game certainly gave the commentators on television a few chuckles as it was a different way of calling an old goal than the traditional sense.
As the NHL referees continued to loosen up their ways and be more engaging with the crowd I expect more of these kind of calls to come in the future and give the league a new look.
