Mark Messier was one of the NHL's best intimidators, and has continued the practice on air, with ESPN.

Since the playoffs began, he's been a forceful advocate of the Rangers bruiser, Matt Rempe. The team's player, who isn't afraid to get rough.

All the while, the Zamboni driver gets more ice time than Rempe lately, which is unjust.

Messier would continue to criticize Coach Laviolette for Rempe's underutilization during the playoffs.

Lavvy has only given Rempe 2:43 of ice time lately, and as someone who could be used as a forechecker, goalie screener and deterrent seems like he's proving Messier's point.

Rempe isn't afraid of mixing it up with Sam Bennett or Matthew Tkachuk, who both are strong forecheckers and goal-scorers for the Cats.

Matt Rempe played 4 total shifts for a 2:43 TOI tonight, which I don't think I've ever seen for a player that didn't get injured.

His last shift of the game ended with 6:08 left in the SECOND period. #NYR

Rempe's presence likely shielded Shesterkin from players like ex-Ranger, Nikko Mikkola.

There's disputable evidence of how Rempe's placement in the lineup positively affects the Rangers' win-loss record, but instead, he sat 57 minutes last night.

But instead of utilizing the intimidation factor, the Cats are using their intimidators in abundance, which may explain why they're one game closer to the SCF and the Rangers aren't.
