Major Development: New York Rangers have officially claimed 23-year old forward off waivers
Arthur Kaliyev's fate with the New York Rangers has just confirmed following latest announcements from several NHL Insiders.
Sunday afternoon the Los Angeles Kings placed forward Arthur Kaliyev on waivers. Kaliyev has only played 188 games in the NHL and has yet to establish himself in a full-time role in the NHL.
The closest he's come to playing a full season in the NHL was during the 2021-2022 season which saw him play 80 games.
This year, he's only played 5 games in the AHL with the team's affiliate the Ontario Reign on a conditioning stint.
He's scored 2 points( 1 G, 1 A) and could use a fresh start elsewhere if GM Chris Drury claims him.
The Los Angeles Kings have placed winger Arthur Kaliyev on waivers per Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman. Kaliyev sustained a fractured clavicle in the pre-season, and wasn't activated from season-opening injured reserve until December 28th. He was assigned to the AHL for a conditioning stint on December 10th, and scored two points in five games with the Ontario Reign. But being activated off of IR returns Kaliyev to waiver eligibility, and the Kings will now attempt to pass his through waivers to return him to the minor leagues.
The forward was selected 33rd overall by the Kings in the 2nd round of the 2019 NHL Draft.
Kaliyev was once thought to be one of the Kings' top prospects, but he's struggled to earn a spot and produce consistently in the lineup.
Kaliyev began to improve on those numbers in year-two, but suffered an undisclosed injury in December that forced him out through mid-February, limiting him to just 56 games. Kaliyev managed 13 goals and 28 points, impressively rivaling his rookie scoring despite the injuries. But he couldn't continue that improvement into last season, netting just 15 points in 51 games and falling into routine healthy scratches.
However, his fate with the New York Rangers has just been confirmed as the several reports have revealed that the Rangers have claimed him off waivers.

Definitely a solid move by Druey as Kaliyev has posted 71 points ( 35 G, 26 A) in 188 games with the Kings and is very well known for his insane shot. Along with that he comes with an $825K cap hit.
