The Hockey News reported 5 days ago that rookie winger,Brett Berard would be removed from the lineup due to an upper-body injury.

It appeared that Berard may have injured himself after a hit on Montreal Canadiens Center, Kirby Dach. He'd return to the bench and would be unavailable for the Rangers game against the New Jersey Devils.

While it's not specifically confirmed, Beard likely suffered this injury after getting hit by Kirby Dach in the Rangers' Saturday afternoon game against the Montreal Canadiens.

Now, we have an update on Berard thanks to Head Coach Peter Laviolette, as it appears he is practicing again.

According to Laviolette he is still day-to-day and it seems unlikely the Rangers will be able to put him back in the lineup tomorrow against the Seattle Kraken.

With Berard being absent from LW2, Laviolette has switched up the lineup multiple times.

Including putting Chris Kreider back at LW2, with Reilly Smith, and Mika Zibanejad, after giving Will Cuylle a shot at the spot on December 2nd against the New Jersey Devils.

Berard has been a bright spot for the Rangers, whose been utilized as a callup, and has played 4 games in the NHL scoring 2 points( 1 G, 1 A).

There were thoughts that Berard or Brennan Othmann would make the regular season lineup in 2024-2025.

With Othmann injured, Berard was the next man up in the depth charts. Berard could make an impact for the Rangers as soon as he's cleared to return to the lineup.

Berard is in year 2 of 3, of an $867K AAV contract signed with the Rangers in 2023, and expires in 2026 taking him to RFA status.
