They recently came off of a 2-2-0 Western Road Trip, and that may have been a factor in their recent moves.
They will have a new face in the lineup, Brett Berard who spent the early part of the season in the AHL.
With the Wolfpack,Berard has been a rising star, as he scored 48 points( 25 G, 23 A) in 2023-2024.
He hasn't stopped this season who scored 13 points( 7 G, 6 A) in 16 games and has finally gotten a shot in the NHL.
Peter Laviolette addressed the reason why Berard got a shot at the Blues tonight in the lineup.
Laviolette is using Berard as a cushion against injuries, and used the call-up, to give the Rangers players a quote-unquote "wake-up call". They recently were outplayed by the Edmonton Oilers, 6-2.
Laviolette feels that Berard could help give the Rangers some speed in the lineup, and it was obvious they were outmatched in Edmonton. As the former Stanley Cup contenders were running and gunning, outshooting the team 21-9.
With a scouting report like this, it's no wonder that Laviolette is willing to give him a shot:
Keep in mind, Berard is a surprise, as a forward who was a former fifth-round pick, 134th overall in 2020.
Going from a fifth-round pick to a top-5 prospect in the NHL is a Cinderella story any hockey fan can love.
Will Berard be the spark in the lineup tonight against Jim Montgomery's St. Louis Blues?
