With the team's continued defensive struggles, it's been difficult for the Rangers to maintain consistency in play. Along with injuries in the lineup, you have a recipe for disaster.
One 2022 NHL Draft pick, Victor Mancini has been a bright spot for an otherwise glum, Rangers defense.
Mancini would prove himself worthy of a role in the NHL, beating out veteran Chad Ruhwedel during the preseason. He scored 2 points in the Rangers 3-2 victory over the Boston Bruins on September 22nd. His versatility helped the Rangers out when Ryan Lindgren was injured.
Now, he's become a fixture in the team's lineup this season and would help give the Rangers an offensive spark with great breakout abilities and scoring his first NHL goal against the Detroit Red Wings on October 17th. Mancini currently has 4 points( 1 G, 3 A) in 14 games this year.
Mancini would return to Hartford after Lindgren's return from injury and would score 5 points( 2 G, 3 A) in five games with the Wolfpack.
Yet he'd find himself back in the NHL unsuspectingly, after the Rangers traded Jacob Trouba on December 6th.
He's been paired with Zac Jones on the bottom pairing and has continued to provide reliable defense, on an otherwise struggling team.
Could Victor Mancini prove himself to be a top-four defenseman in the NHL? If he develops as expected, and takes advantage of the role given to him by the New York Rangers this season.
