The New York Rangers have just announced an unexpected roster transaction as they recall forward from the Hartford Wolf Pack to replace veteran Chris Kreider as he has now been placed on Inured Reserve.

Earlier this morning the New York Rangers have placed veteran forward Chris Kreider onto Injured Reserve (IR) after suffering an upper-body injury. While doing so they needed someone to take his place in the lineup.

Kreider on IR retroactive to Sunday. Would expect a Rempe recall. If he is up tonight, would be eligible to play on Thursday against NJD.

That player being 23-year old enforcer Matt Rempe. However, Matt Rempe currently still has one more game remaining on his 8 game suspension, for when he received an 8-game suspension for elbowing and boarding Miro Heiskanen of the Dallas Star

UPDATE: Matt Rempe has been recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack.

So Rempe, who was just sent to Hartford on Monday following the Rangers recent waiver claim, won't be playing tonight against the Dallas Stars, but he will be eligible to play on Thursday night against the New Jersey Devils.

#NYR send Matt Rempe to Hartford in order to be cap compliant for tomorrow's game vs. Stars.

He still has one game left to serve on his 8-game suspension when he's called back up to NHL, but he's eligible to play in the AHL.

Rempe has played 5 games this season for the Rangers and scored 0 points. While in the AHL with the Hartford Wolfpack, he's fared better scoring 5 points( 3 G, 2 A) in 18 games.

Do you think Matt Rempe should be playing in the National Hockey League?
