The New York Rangers need to get over the hump a lot of teams struggle to leap, and that's to get to the Stanley Cup Final.
Granted, they got there in 2014, but that was also a decade ago. They're due for an appearance, and Drury knows it. So here's one thing New York can do to get over the final hurdle.
Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins Captain, veteran, face of the franchise, whatever name, he's it, could be an option for the Rangers after this year.
Crosby is entering the final year of his 12-year contract at $8.7 million per year with Pittsburgh. It's unknown whether he's going to stay or go, but he's 37 years old, so it's being hinted that he may want to go to a cup contender.
Crosby, yet 37, is still as good as you'd need him to be up the middle of the ice. Sidney had 42 goals and 98 points in a fully played 82-game season this past year with the Penguins.
He'd be a good fit for the Rangers if Drury wants to be ambitious and bring him on in free agency of next year.
