The Buffalo Sabres decided to rehire Lindy Ruff who was their former head coach from 1997 through till 2013. After the news broke, several hosts on the Spittin Chiclets gave their view on the hire and Paul "Biznasty" Bissonnette stated that the hire was lazy.

All hosts across the podcast felt the same way as Biznasty and certainly the Sabres could have taken some time to look over other candidates.

Ruff was during his fourth season with the devils after finishing in the second round against the Carolina Hurricanes the year previous, Devils general manager Tom Fitzgerald felt the team needed a change and decided to let him go.

The Sabres needed a change as previous head coach Don Granto was let go after several players felt the team needed another voice to take the team to another level.

The Sabres have been in the longest playoff drought in team history. They have not reached the postseason since 2011-12 which is unacceptable for the fan base and for the franchise. It will come a point in time where the team will need to make the playoffs to become a successful organization and change their culture.

With the teams recent push, they have fallen out of favor for NHL draft and will finish midway through the draft selection which could hinder their development.
