The dust has now settled, as the NHL fan base has come to grips with a new team that will be in Salt Lake City UT. The hosts of the Spittin Chiclets discuss why new NHL owner Ryan Smith has been reluctant in picking a name for the team in a very short period of time and that Paul Bissonnette fully agrees with his reasons.
Smith feels that the speed that this transaction occurred and the fact that they only have two months to get their delta centre ready for NHL hockey with a major renovation, putting together their hockey operations and making sure they have enough players signed for next year is way more important than choosing a name.
Smith made it clear on the 32 thoughts podcast interview with Jeff Marek and Elliotte Friedman that he would like the fans to choose the name rather than himself or his team.
During their pod interview, some names did surface including the Yeti, Blizzard, Outlaws, Venom as possible choices for the next team. Smith was reluctant to put any opinion towards those names, but his true want is for the community to choose it.
With so much work to do, it's going to be a tall task for Ryan Smith and his team to have everything ready for early October. However, they feel quite confident that they will be able to accomplish everything they need to do in such a short time.
