It's intriguing to see when former NHL players become general managers, presidents or even player agents as they hung up their skates and began their new chapter while staying with the game they love.

Chris Johnston of TSN revealed today that former Rangers fan favorite Rick Nash will be named the general manager of Canada in an upcoming world tournament.

The IIHF men's world hockey championship is usually held during the summer after the NHL has concluded it's season and Stanley Cup.

Rick Nash had a great career which spanned from 2002 through 2018 where he played for three NHL organizations including the Rangers.

The 39-year-old, was instrumental in many Team Canada games as he was always part of the group where he had one gold in Vancouver and in Sochi along with a world championship in 2007.

He will certainly be a fine choice as his understanding of the game and immersing himself in the management role over the past few years certainly gives him an advantage.

It will be interesting to see how he will assemble this team and how they will do once the tournament begins.
