They've managed to stay strong and are looking like contenders for a Stanley Cup run.
As the trade deadline approaches, the Rangers might want to strengthen their team, but there's one name they should steer clear of.
Known for his flashy plays, including the famous "Michigan" goal, Zegras got a big contract extension for his offensive skills and impact in Anaheim.
While Zegras had two good seasons with 60 points each in the last two years, this season hasn't been as impressive, with only seven points in the Ducks' first 20 games. People are criticizing him for not playing well on both ends of the ice, and he has a total of 146 points in 200 games in his short NHL career.
Why the Rangers Should Avoid Trevor Zegras
The Rangers don't need more scoring in their top six, making Zegras an unnecessary addition.
They should focus on getting depth forwards who are good at defense or a depth defenseman for the playoffs. Even if they're looking for a star player, Zegras shouldn't be on their list.
There are many reasons why this wouldn't be a good fit, from money issues to not having a set spot in the lineup. Bringing in Zegras could mess with the team's chemistry, possibly taking away playing time from deserving players like
Vincent Trocheck.
As the trade deadline gets closer, the Rangers, who are likely to buy players, should make smart moves to improve their chances of winning the Stanley Cup.
Going after Zegras doesn't fit their current needs, and they should explore other options to strengthen their team for a championship run.
