Matt Rempe shockingly addresses the media for the first time since receiving an 8-game suspension
New York Rangers enforcer speaks out for the very first time since receiving an eight-game suspension from the NHL Department of Player Safety.
Rangers fan favourite forward Matt Rempe spoke out for the very first time today, after he served the biggest suspension of his career thus far, eight-games for boarding/elbowing Miro Heiskanen of the Dallas Stars.

Now that Rempe's suspension is over he is expected to rejoin the Rangers lineup as veteran forward Chris Kreider is sidelined with an upper-body injury. However, he recently addressed the media and discussed how he needs to do better.
Matt Rempe talked with NHL Director of Player Safety George Parros over the summer to go over some things, so he had a feeling after his hit on Miro Heiskanen that he'd be facing a lengthy suspension, he said today (more)
«That wasn't a great hit. Gotta be smarter I was coming in with too much speed.» He still has to play his game, but «it can't happen again, or it's gonna be a huge suspensionI don't have to make every hit, if that makes sense. I got it I gotta be able to pick my hits.»
One of the biggest issues the 22-year old forward faced is that he is much larger than most players on the ice, as he stands at 6-foot-8 making it hard for him to land hits without making head contact.
Rempe will now be closely watched by the NHL Department of Player Safety and George Parros for the remainder of the season as they want him to deliver cleaner hits and stay out of trouble, and while only being 22-years old, he has lots of time to learn.
It's likely Rempe will play for the Rangers next game on Thursday night, as they face off against the New Jersey Devils, along with newly acquired forward Arthur Kaliyev.
