Matt Rempe's time in New York is over? GM Chris Drury faced with a challenging situation
The New York Rangers face a tough decision when rookie enforcer Matt Rempe returns from his eight-game suspension.
The New York Rangers will have to figure out whether or not they want to keep Matt Rempe around after his eight-game suspension, and it's a tougher decision then most think.
While Rempe won't solve all of the New York Rangers problems, he can definitely help the team get back on track with his grit and style of play.
During his one game he played in his recent call up from the Wolf Pack, the Rangers faced the Dallas Stars and Rempe's physicality set the tone and ultimately led the team to a 3-1 victory.
During that game, it was clear that the Rangers fed off the 22-years old and they played a lot better then they have recently because of it.
Even head coach Peter Laviolette praised Rempe after the Rangers impressive victory over the Stars:
«I thought he had a big impact on the game,» Laviolette said. «We'd like to stay away from the 5-minute major, but he's doing his best to hit bodies and make a difference in the game. Our guys really rallied around that.»
Unfortunately the night ended with a nasty hit from Rempe on
Miro Heiskanen which resulted in his eight-game suspension, but he certainly sparked the Rangers.
Despite what people think of Matt Rempe and his style of play, he has definitely proven that his presence will help the team to play with more energy and urgency.
It's possible the Rangers send Rempe back down to the Hartford Wolfpack of the American Hockey league after he has served his suspension.
