New York Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette has made some unexpected changes to tonights opening roster, that some fans might not like.

For everyone who was looking forward to seeing Matt Rempe play in tonight's opening night game against the Pittsburgh Penguins will sadly be disappointed.

During the team's morning skate this morning, the fourth line looked different as it was Adam Edström, Sam Carrick and Jimmy Brodzinski leaving Matt Remoe being the odd man out.

Usually the player who doesn't appear on any of the lineups during the morning practice is more than likely to be scratched for the following game.

According to a recent report from Vince Z. Mercogliano, Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette confirmed after practice that Rempe will not be playing tonight's game:

«This isn't about scratching somebody,» Laviolette said. «Sometimes it's going to be about the opponent, sometimes it's going to be about play. I think Jonny (Brodzinski) had a really good camp.»

The 21-year old beloved enforcer has quickly became a fan favourite to many Rangers fans last season, however him being scratched for the opening night game shouldn't be much of a surprise for fans.

As last season, Rempe was limited to a few minutes of play when he was in the lineup for the Rangers throughout the playoffs and was regularly marked as a healthy scratch.
