Rangers Officially List Their Biggest Asset On The Trading Block
With the NHL trade deadline exactly one month away, there are varying reports about the willingness or lack thereof the Rangers have in using their 2024 first round draft pick in a deal to bolster the current roster.
One report from Darren Dreger saying on TSN Insider, that James Dolan wants to protect the first round pick so that the Rangers can be part of the spotlight at The Sphere that he owns part of.
Rangers insider, Larry Brooks, says the pick is not off the table to trade.
"Rangers first-rounder is in play. There has been no edict delivered from chairman Jim Dolan to Drury not to trade the pick. The concept is ludicrous. More to the point, it has zero validity."
This is encouraging to hear the Rangers are still wanting to go all in this season, and not hold on to a draft pick just for the team to be part of some spectacle.
But a question that pounders in my head, how much of this was untrue, or was the backlash from the ridiculousness of the Dreger news is what made Dolan course correct to deny the initial reports?
Let's see what happens in the trade deadline.
