The Rangers defeated the Devils 5-1 on Thursday night in dominating fashion.

That's nine wins in a row for the Rangers, leaving them one shy of tying the franchise's all-time best streak.

The loss left the Devils sitting five points out of the Eastern Conference's second and final wild card spot, while the Rangers are perched atop the Metropolitan Division with a six-point cushion.

Rangers captain, Jacob Trouba, breaks down the Devils downfall, along with anyone else that faces off against the Rangers and fail:

"When we're at our best, we're playing with speed and physicality. Lavi says that all the time, but honestly, it's true. When we slow the game down...We're getting on our toes and we're playing physical, playing hard, it's really no fun to play against. Because we have the guys who can put the puck in the net, too. If guys like myself can step up and add that element to our game and make it not enjoyable to play against the Rangers, we know we have guys that are going to put the puck in the net."

Head coach Peter Laviolette shares similar sentiments:

"It might've been one of our most physical games. I think that made a difference in the game. We're putting it behind them and banging bodies. Troubs had some nice hits, Cuylle had some nice hits, Eddy had some nice hits. Obviously, Remp had a big hit."

The Rangers may have found the missing link to their championship aspirations. Physicality.
