3 Significant Takeaways From The New York Rangers Dominant 6-1 Victory Over The Flyers

The New York Rangers have gone streaking, as they've acquired points in their last ten games.
The latest resurgence has given them 52 total points, and are 5th in the Metropolitan Division, right behind their rivals,
the Columbus Blue Jackets.
If they're to win the hunt for a wild card, they'll need to continue to play with confidence and support goalie
Igor Shesterkin, who has pulled more than his weight this week with three wins, and a.32 GAA.
With the beginning of 2025, the Rangers have looked like an all-around different team.
Here are three things we can take away from their latest victory.
The team since the start of 2025 is 8-1-3 in their last eleven games and has a plus goal differential of 14.
They've managed to resolve their issues at scoring on even strength.
Per Mollie Walker of the New York Post, the Rangers lead the league in points (19) and goals for (43) since Jan. 2.
Compared to a month ago, the team looked like they were hauling deadweight around. They've also improved their power play percentage to 29% which has helped put them within a point of a playoff spot to begin 2025.
This looks like a team playing as a unit, successfully.
Chytil has been one of the Rangers' reliable forwards when he's not injured. He had two points against the Flyers last night, which gives him 20 points in 39 games this year.
While recently he's had trouble finishing, the Rangers haven't seen his true potential as a 2C, and have him cost-controlled which makes him a player the team should keep, instead of sending to the Canucks.
It's a similar situation to when the Ottawa Senators traded a 25-year-old
Mika Zibanejad. While Zibanejad has struggled this season, history does not look kindly on the Senators' trade of Zibanejad for Derick Brassard. The Rangers should not risk finding themselves in that same position.
Igor Shesterkin has been out of this world this week, as he's managed to secure a .32 GAA. He's had back-to-back shutouts and saved 80 of 81 shots this week in three-stars.
He's easily putting himself in Vezina Trophy talks again this season, and looks like a different goalie compared to the start of this year.
He started the season 11-15-1 with a .906 save percentage, but since the beginning of 2025, he is 6-0-1 with a .948 save percentage and two shutouts.
While Shesterkin is hot, he always keeps the Rangers in the game and gives them a chance to win. With him on a hot streak, the team needs to take advantage of it and support him nightly to push for a playoff spot in the East.
