Late on Wednesday night the New York Rangers announced that the team has sent defenseman Victor Mancini down to the Hartford Wolf pack of the AHL.
Along with recalling 34-year old defensemen Chad Ruhwedel to the New York Rangers.
New York Rangers 22-year old rookie defenseman Victor Mancini has shown a lot of potential with the Rangers early in the 2024-25 season as he has only played 9 out of the 13 games, and has managed to tally 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists).
However, the young defender has been a healthy scratch for the Rangers for their last few games as Peter Laviolette has decided to put more trust in his experienced players.
This necessarily is not a bad thing as Mancini will now have the chance to get more ice time and improve on his skills for whenever the Rangers decide they need him.
On the other hand, Chad Ruhwedel signed a two year contract with the New York Rangers after he was traded to the from the Pittsburgh Penguins, for a fourth-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft.
Prior to the trade, he scored four points (1g, 3a) in 47 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Over the last two season that Ruhwedel has spent with the Rangers he has only made six NHL appearances with the team and remained points in those six games.
